Do you think you could be a NORCAP volunteer intermediary?
We are looking to increase our number of intermediaries throughout the UK, and will be holding an introductory training weekend on the 17th and 18th September here at the NORCAP office in Wheatley, with accommodation provided for those who need or want it.
Preferably, you should have one or more of the following:-
1. at least one year of experience as a NORCAP Contact Leader or NAN Peer Supporter
2. at least two years post qualifying experience as a social worker including adoption support/post adoption work
3. at least two years experience of voluntary or professional work involving adoption, e.g. co-ordinator role in NPN or Adoption UK or Adoption Panel membership
4. hold a counselling qualification and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of adoption issues and their impact upon adults affected by adoption
5. hold another professional qualification for a role that includes a significant amount of work involving interpersonal skills e.g. nursing in mental health, pastoral care role in education, etc
NB: People who can demonstrate some experience under two or more of the above but without fulfilling any one specific category are invited to discuss their interest with the Rosemary, Services Lead or Jean, Charity Leader.
If you feel that you have experience and skills outside of those listed above but think they might equip you for the role of intermediary then do contact NORCAP and arrange to discuss your interest with Rosemary or Jean
All Intermediaries need to offer empathy, understanding, care and concern, and a methodical and organised approach as well as a sense of humour in order to fulfill this role.
Our regular training events with all intermediaries and staff are something to look forward to once you have been accepted. They can be described as highly informative, deeply moving, great fun, and rather exhausting!!
For more information please contact the office on 01865 875999 and ask for Rosemary or Jean
